CPU specifications

It is good to understand the specs of the cpu (central processing unit). If you are looking around for a cpu you might come across a description like this:

Intel Core2 Duo E6750 2.66GHz LGA775
1333MHz FSB 4MB L2 cache Conroe 65nm

This description can be broken down into 10 discrete components:

Intel
Core2
Duo
E6750
2.66GHz
LGA775
1333MHz FSB
4MB L2 cache
Conroe
65nm

Next Assignment

Great work on the power supply.

This is your next assignment, but you don't have to work on it right away.  Think about the power supply question first... and do your Chemistry homework.

Read about CPUs.  Start on page 30.

Take out the CPU from your motherboard and figure out what kind of CPU it is.

Research CPUs and tell me what you think a good one is and why.

Power Supply

Great work on the power supply.

40W is not a whole lot of power.  What is the total power for both supplies?  (My guess is somewhere in the hundreds of watts).

Power = voltage x Current

Voltage is what we always think of when we think of power, but it's only half of what you need to look for.

Current is the other part and it can be trickier to figure out.  If you think about a wire like a water pipe, voltage is how much water is available to pour through the pipe.  Current is how fast the water pours through the pipe.  A wire is like a water pipe for electrons.

POP question.
If a wire is like a water pipe for electrons and volts are how many electrons are available to pour through the pipe, how could you change the current?

Power source information

I found out that when you are comparing power sources do not only go by the size of them. There is a label on the side telling you what the energy input and output is. The difference between the two I was looking at was only forty watts. But my power source was half the size of the one I was comparing it to.

Points and software

Guys,

Summer is almost here and its time to add some cool stuff to those computers. Time to trade in your points for something. 200 points is the magic number.

For 10 more points, give me some options on what you want. Do some research on the kinds of things you want to add to your computer and what the requirements are for that particular software. Before we order it, we need to be sure that it will work.

Tyler, the thing you are asking about is the LINE6 GUITAR PORT. The link to the website is here. http://line6.com/guitarport/

Go there, find the requirements and post them. Then tell me if your computer is compatible with all of those requirements.

Noah and Isaiah, there are a lot of cool things available - video game creators, surround sound systems, lightup video game keyboards, movie making software, . Try to keep the price to around $100 and then figure out how to get more points...
